Our responsibility for the impact of our products extends across their entire lifecycle. We communicate with stakeholders, suppliers and everyone along the value chain, including subcontractors and logistic experts. By doing so, we take all reasonable steps to ensure the safe manufacturing, transportation and usage of our products at customer locations around the world. Details provided include product properties and characteristics, information about their reaction with other materials and substances, as well as advice with regards to safe handling and responsible disposal. We provide all legally required communications and documents (e.g. Safety Data Sheets for hazardous materials), and our additional proactive transparent communication is greatly appreciated in the market.
Our proactive approach to GHS
The Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals is an internationally agreed-upon system, created by the United Nations. It was designed to replace all the diverse hazard classification and communication systems, and present one common standard which all countries should follow. We not only ensure that Lhoist complies with GHS requirements, but we also pre-emptively provide required information in advance of deadlines to ensure that all parties are fully informed about the properties of our products.
