Lime dries out wet soils.

Flocculate

With clayey soils, lime rapidly modifies their structure to reduce their plasticity. This improves the soil’s bearing capacity for on-site transportation and compacting.

Stabilize

Combined with pozzolanic materials, lime produces binders that progressively harden in the presence of water. This functionality is used to stabilize clayey materials that make up embankments and pavement layers.

Fill

Limestone acts as a filler and hydrated lime as an asphalt additive to increase the quality of asphalt mixtures mainly for use in road surface layers.

Structure

Capping and pavement layers require limestone aggregates to distribute loads, reducing road structure failures due to heavy traffic. This functionality can also be obtained with lime-treated soils.
