Limestone, quicklime and hydrated lime

Products Lhoist is a major producer of lime and <a href="../Frame_Dolomite/Frame_Dolomite.htm">dolomite</a>. Our product range includes all products derived from the calcination of <a href="../Frame_Limestone/Frame_Limestone.htm">limestone</a>. Our manufacturing plants produce calcium and magnesium compounds such as <a href="http://www.lhoist.com/frames/Frame_QuickLime/Frame_QuickLime.htm">quicklime</a>, <a href="../Frame_Hydrated_Lime/Frame_Hydrated_Lime.htm">hydrated lime</a>, limestone, dolomite, for industrial use. Limestone : The raw material for all lime-based products is a natural stone : limestone, which is composed almost exclusively of calcium carbonate. Dolomite : When limestone contains a certain proportion of magnesium, it is called dolomite, or <a href="../Frame_Dolomitic_Lime/Frame_Dolomitic_Lime.htm">dolomitic limestone</a>. <a href="http://www.lhoist.com/frames/Frame_QuickLime/Frame_QuickLime.htm">Quicklime</a> or calcium oxide is obtained by calcining pure limestone at temperatures above 900°C. Dolomitic lime or dolime is obtained by calcining dolomitic limestone. Hydrated lime or calcium hydroxide, or slaked lime, or lime hydrate is a dry powder, resulting from the controlled slaking of quicklime with water. <a href="../Frame_Lime_Milk/Frame_Lime_Milk.htm">Lime milk</a> is a suspension of hydrated lime in water.
