FSI involves injecting a sorbent directly into the furnace or blending it with the fuel. Depending on the sorbent’s composition, this approach enables high‑temperature acid‑gas capture (e.g., SO2 or HF), improves furnace cleanliness, or both. At furnace temperatures, the sorbent decomposes into a highly reactive quicklime form, neutralizing acid gas (mainly SO2) before downstream treatment. FSI also reduces slagging and fouling by increasing ash melting temperature .

Key benefits

Depending on the sorbent used, you will have the following benefits:

  • Effective SO2 peak control and acid gas mitigation
  • Improved thermal efficiency
  • Increased waste throughput
  • Reduced downstream reagent consumption and residue disposal
  • Reduced maintenance and cleaning costs

Best-fit application

Waste‑to‑Energy and biomass plants facing SO2 peaks and slagging/fouling challenges.
