Discover the multiple functionalities of lime and minerals
Pulp and Paper
In the chemical pulp-making process, lime is used to recover NaOH; a reagent that extracts cellulose fibers from the wood.
Lime is first transformed into a milk of lime and then into precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) – CaCO3. PCC is combined to make cellulosic fibers, essentially as a filler agent, but also as a coating agent in order to increase paper brightness, opacity and bulk.
