Carbon capture challenge

A “hard-to-abate” process

The production of lime is recognised as a “hard-to-abate” process: our unique raw material is limestone for which the extraction of carbon through the heating process creates lime.

The impact of the combustion process can be reduced with more efficient technologies and less carbon-intensive fuels, but the nature of the chemical reaction that separates lime from CO2 cannot be changed.
