At Lhoist, sustainability is part of our long-term mindset. It lives in the choices we make every day to run our operations responsibly, protect people, create lasting value for the communities around us, and for the generations that will come after us.
Our approach is structured around seven ambitions: Safety, CO2 and fuel, Communities, Electricity, Lhoist for All, Health and Well-being, and Resource Valorization.
Each of our sites operates within a unique local context. To make our sustainability framework meaningful everywhere, our actions are adapted to local realities and expectations. Biodiversity, air quality, and water management are integrated into local development plans to ensure our operations contribute positively to surrounding ecosystems and communities.
Achieving this depends on every one of us at Lhoist joining forces with our partners and stakeholders to create shared value – grounded in humility, strengthened by discipline and driven by a constant focus on what really matters.

At Lhoist, contributing to a low‑carbon economy is central to our strategy. As a global producer of lime, dolime and mineral solutions, we aim to reduce emissions, improve energy efficiency, and develop more sustainable ways to produce and use energy. Our products are essential today and will play a key role in tomorrow’s energy transition.
To better understand our progress and identify opportunities for improvement, Lhoist undergoes a performance assessment through EcoVadis, a globally recognized organization that provides independent sustainability ratings and insights.
EcoVadis evaluates companies on a broad range of management systems, including environmental practices, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Each company receives a score between 0 and 100 and a medal, bronze, silver, gold, or platinum, based on its performance.
Our latest assessments resulted in 1 Gold medals (Spain), 8 Silver medals (Czechia, Portugal, Malaysia, Germany, Slovakia, Poland, UK, Denmark), and 4 Bronze medal (Belgium, France, Brazil, USA).
These results reflect the efforts of our teams across regions and highlight the progress we are making on our sustainability journey. They encourage us to keep improving and to strengthen our approach through innovation and collaboration.
