In the Spray Dry Absorber (SDA) semi‑wet process, a lime slurry (milk of lime) is atomized into the hot flue gas. As droplets evaporate, fine dry Ca(OH)2 particles form and react efficiently with HF, HCl, SO2, and SO3. The resulting solids are captured downstream in the particulate filter. This approach delivers high removal efficiency, with significantly lower water consumption than wet scrubbers.

Best-fit applications
Coal‑fired plants, municipal and special waste incineration, and steel sinter plants.
Sorbacal® Q (quicklime) and Sorbacal® H (hydrated lime) can be used to prepare milk of lime on site, while Sorbacal® SL provides a ready‑to‑use slurry. These products ensure the availability of fine, highly reactive Ca(OH)2 for optimal SDA performance.
