Wet process (Wet Scrubber)

Wet scrubbers remove acid gases by bringing flue gas into contact with a scrubbing liquid, achieving high removal rates for HCl, HF, and SO2 with low sorbent consumption. Flue gas is cooled below the acid dew point and passes through a water or alkaline scrubbing solution where acidic gases dissolve and react with the sorbent. Reaction products either remain dissolved or precipitated as solids (e.g., CaSO3 / CaSO4).

Key benefits

  • Best‑in‑class acid gas removal efficiency
  • Low reagent consumption
  • Ideal for large units requiring stable, continuous performance
  • Enables the use of cost‑effective limestone

Best-fit applications

Large, continuously operated facilities (e.g., power plants) where high removal efficiency and reliability are critical.
